Bugs and creepy crawlies (One Deep Breath)
Walking past gardens
Flaunting bleeding heart, lilies
Bumblebees abound.
Tiny butterfly
Rides warm rose perfumed breezes
Pure joy in flight
Honey bees fly low
Kissing spiky thistle blooms
Taking sweetness home.
Dragonflies shimmer
Gently skimming over the lake
Jewels on water
Waiting for the stars
Watching daring bats careen
To eat mosquitoes.
Twilight tiptoes in
Fireflies blink a green welcome
Seeking romance
Old Daddy Longlegs
Crawls up my leg to explore,
But does not bite.
Flaunting bleeding heart, lilies
Bumblebees abound.
Tiny butterfly
Rides warm rose perfumed breezes
Pure joy in flight
Honey bees fly low
Kissing spiky thistle blooms
Taking sweetness home.
Dragonflies shimmer
Gently skimming over the lake
Jewels on water
Waiting for the stars
Watching daring bats careen
To eat mosquitoes.
Twilight tiptoes in
Fireflies blink a green welcome
Seeking romance
Old Daddy Longlegs
Crawls up my leg to explore,
But does not bite.

nice variety here - I like the dragonflies best!
Thank you. I love the variety of life in "bugs and creepy crawlies" - even mosquitoes can be sort of pretty, though I have to admit I'm glad the bats mean I am less likely to be bitten.
On Sunday, my husband and I were walking with his brother to a condo that his brother wants to buy, when a butterfly just popped out of a rosebush right in front of my face. Gorgeous.
And, of course, when the 17-year cicadas came, I seemed to be the only one in town who enjoyed the concert every night. For once, I couldn't hear all the city sounds, just insect song, and it sent me straight to sleep.
Plus, well, red and blue eyed alien bugs. Too cool.
I love the diverse variety as well. The Dragonflies are my muse. Wonderfully Done!
What wonderful examples of nature! Oh, how I miss the fireflies...
Oh, I really enjoyed all of these! Such beautiful moments of color and movement and imagery. I especially love the butterfly as it "rides warm rose perfumed breezes" and the honey bees "kissing spiky thistle blooms/ taking sweetness home" and "watching daring bats careen".
I really love the second one (I could see this tiny butterfly surfing on the scent).
isn't insect life just amazing!
No creepy crawlies here! Lovely nature poems .
I love how you covered the gamut of bugs, feels like summer now ;)

Nice! And the stars are a feast for our eyes. :-)
absolutely beautiful :)
thanks for stopping by my blog!
the fireflies in the twilight blinking a green welcome...SO nice.
I presume the one about the bats was inspired by the evening we all spent watching bats in D.C. as they swooped and darted and made turns and maneuvers a fighter-jet pilot could only be envious of ....
*grin* Yeah, that, and a starwatching trip with Craig where we were the only ones with binoculars, so we had the best view of the bats in the early evening, while everybody else was getting their equipment set up.
I really like the dragonflies one - you capture well how special they are. And the mosquitoes one is great too - 'daring bats careen' is a wonderful phrase.
How inspired you must have been by the prompt this week! I enjoyed them all, especially the "green welcome" of the fireflies and "watching daring bats careen."
hmmmm...never thought bugs would be so cute! And who doesn't love the beauty and freedom of a dragonfly. Thanks for sharing.
