Morning: One deep breath
Flat silver sun disk
Shines through soft grey morning fog
Dewdropped grass shivers
Waking birds chatter
Sweet hiccups of song echo
Among foggy trees
Coffee is brewing
Light drifts through city windows
But my quilt is warm...
Messy haired, groggy
I struggle to wake, need coffee.
Cheerful birds mock me.
Early morning dark
Daddy wakes me: come out back!
Watch raccoons steal trash
Shines through soft grey morning fog
Dewdropped grass shivers
Waking birds chatter
Sweet hiccups of song echo
Among foggy trees
Coffee is brewing
Light drifts through city windows
But my quilt is warm...
Messy haired, groggy
I struggle to wake, need coffee.
Cheerful birds mock me.
Early morning dark
Daddy wakes me: come out back!
Watch raccoons steal trash

cheerful birds mock me
love that line!
Wonderful images!! Each haiku is really nice -- and I love "dewdropped grass shivers" and "sweet hiccups of song echo/ among foggy trees".
:)
I'm going to echo Clare - I really like the hiccupping song.
These are all great--especially shivering grass and hiccuping and mocking birds.
Your last lines in order make a poem of their own:
"Dewdropped grass shivers
Among foggy trees
But my quilt is warm...
Cheerful birds mock me,
Watch raccoons steal trash"
I like each haiku, so many different morning images.
sweet hiccups of song...really caught my attention! Nice work!
Since I have curly hair I thought it was "mossy haired" which would be me in the morning. All of these are so great. Marcia has it right you can mix and match the lines and they work.
I love the line " but my quilt is warm " it calls to me
these all show me morning! especially like the idea of dewdropped grass shivering.
Oh, those sweet hiccups and the cheerful mocking birds are delights. I enjoyed all the poems. Nearly all describe bits of my mornings.
I love sweet hiccups of song.
Thank you all. And Marcia, I really like the "last lines poem". Thank you.
My hair is wavy, rather than curly, but it's amazing the directions it can go first thing in the morning!
great series showing different aspects of morning-time! i love the line 'cheerful birds mock me'!
