First snow
The promise of snow
appears in low grey clouds,
sharp tang in the air
Sunlit snowfall
Cold whispers drift on the wind
Silence in the woodlot
White flakes fall softly
gilding black branches upraised
to embrace the sky
The storm has passed
Heavy snow begins to melt,
leaving fine lace
appears in low grey clouds,
sharp tang in the air
Sunlit snowfall
Cold whispers drift on the wind
Silence in the woodlot
White flakes fall softly
gilding black branches upraised
to embrace the sky
The storm has passed
Heavy snow begins to melt,
leaving fine lace

I heard you got some snow down that way. A friend of mine is attending a soccer clinic in Baltimore and when I spoke with him on the phone he told me about an inch of snow. We have several inches here and it's a crisp 18 degrees Fahrenheit. There is something delightfully mystical about a first snow. You've capture it well with your poetry.
We got more than an inch, but not so much as you, and are much warmer than 18 degrees. The flowers are already recovering from the snow.
I do miss having snow every now and again, so I really enjoyed this one. And yes, I too find that snow calls out the contemplative side of me.
This is nice. I used to see those trees as reaching up for mercy; now I see them embracing every wonderful thing about this world.

How nice to have all this snow from the warmth of my house (no snow for us this year, so far)...
You render the snow fall exactly as I remember it.
low grey clouds - nice phrase and one that always reminds me that this type is a snow sky - rarely does a rain sky come in so low and produce that strange gray which can only be snow.
Lovely lines, all of them producing clear images.
this was lovely... it has been many years since i have encountered snow,, and i do love reliving it here in front of my hot wood stove in sunny northern california.....
we had real snow this year for the first time for years! I enjoyed your sequence, especially the first one.
